Korean Coolers

>> Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Today, our little brother celebrated his birthday at home. Everything was doing okay,  not until the obvious was  so pronounced when everyone wanted something really cool to melt the heat away. So Auntie Vicky sent us to buy Korean Coolers at the Korean Mart across West City Central, it was like a crazy trip to Korea itself,  cramped up in the vehicle, we still managed to smile, lol.. The two ladies at the shop are Koreans, one older and another, younger. At first they were both serious looking and the the older woman was cross. I think she was bothered because  we took lots and lots of pictures with our Asian pose, just like the pictures you see here. They didn't accept credit cards so Manong Ondo had to be sent there for financial rescue, lol.. So while waiting for him, I  took the liberty of buying the coolers below:

Melon: Pinky,
Pinipig taste-alike: Honey,
Ice cream Sandwich: Mine,
Fish shaped Ice cream Sandwich: Sweet

All four cost me P 210.0, but I can not tell you the price for each as I forgot to ask. All I know is that 3 items  cost P 55 each and 1 is for P 45, I just do not know which exactly..
Kyna took the photos since she did not want to eat while there. But when we reached home, she ate the drumstick look alike (P 75.00) but is thinner than our usual drumstick here in the Philippines.

All the rest of the people enjoyed the Korean Coolers too.

That's just 1 basket, shown twice to show you what P 1070 allowed us to get.
See the bag I am holding? That's their special bag to keep our frozen delights from melting once sealed while in transport. That is why, when we reached home, and everyone reached out for his or her share of the treat, each item is still good as when we took them from the Korean Mart's freezer.

Thanks to Auntie Vicky for the treat. It was a different way to cool the heat..

I also bought a liter of  Tomato Juice (P 180) and 2 bottles of Rice wine (P 85 each) to sample.

A pose before we left the Korean Mart..

Mamsuy's Spanish Style Sardines

>> Monday, May 3, 2010

My fellow CDO Blogger Rosanna Lim invited me one time to try her mom's special spanish style sardines. I didn't hesitate because I am fond of Spanish Sardines from Dipolog City. While buying them in the supermarket is tasking and sometimes overpriced and no longer fresh, Mamsuy's is always fresh, affordable at P 50.00 only per serving, and oh so yummy..

I love the spicy hot sardines over a day old bread, spread with a little bit mayonnaise and toasted for 3-5 seconds.. yum..

Check out and LIKE their Facebook page. You will find more information there..

Or if you know Sanasanz, you can contact her and order your first 2. Believe me, ordering 1 is not a good idea. The moment you taste it, you can not wait to open the second tub.

PIZZA DE ORO, Affordable White Sauce Pizza

>> Friday, April 16, 2010

WHITE SAUCE PIZZA has always been my favorite. And if all of you are familiar with DaVinci's in Cebu City, then you will definitely say that White Sauce Pizza is absolutely to die for.

Weeks ago, I was introduced to PIZZA DE ORO by the many plurk friends plurking about the newest White Sauce Pizza craze in Cagayan de Oro City. So I decided to try them out. Initially they had two flavors to choose from. And on my first and second orders, I bought each of the said flavors. Imagine, for P 200 you can already enjoy exciting pizzas.

Hawaiian Ham and Cheese - P 90
De Oro Overload - P 110
I love how the filling in each kind of Pizza blends well with the mood we have at home. Creamy, crunchy, yummy! Lili and River, as well as my sister liked these flavors. Last week, fellow CDO Blogger, Rosanna Lim, told me that I should try out the newest flavor:

Tuna - P 110

And guess what, I think I have found my favorite in their menu. This week they are coming out with a new flavor, Beef. I will still have to try that out and tell you guys about it.

If you wish to order, they are available for delivery, with no extra charge. I often check their Facebook page before I order. Below are their contact details.

Hotline #: (088) 858-4874
Cellphone #: 0915-4430-588

Business address is at # 14-21 street Nazareth, Fronting Lourdes Grade School. Soon they will have a physical address to accommodate diners.

By the way, if you can not consume your pizza, (which is quite impossible unless you order so many and there's just you staring at all the rest that you can not consume anymore, lol.. ) or if you wish to order and take it on a trip, all you have to do to retain its freshness is to refrigerate it, and reheat together with its signature banana leaf and voila! You have the freshly reheated pizza that is still yummy..

If you want to order, leave a message here so I will tell you where. My mom's friend said she does not want her stuff advertised, even the foodies she sells. But she welcomes referrals... By the way, they come in the box that you see above so they are also great for pasalubong or as gifts... And I am sure you will save a lot of money....

CHEF JACOB BORJA'S GOODIES

>> Monday, November 23, 2009

I came by this dude's page at Facebook one fine day and what caught my attention was his sharing of his own version of the recipe for home made Baked Macaroni and Cheese. And although he did not discuss fully the recipe, he captured everything on cam. The Baked Mac, he used four different cheeses and covered most of the basic ingredients and procedure so his visitors may be able to follow through.

On my next visit, I saw the goodies below:

I found out that he is actually accepting orders and these babies here are samples of orders made by his friends and relatives. The photo above is a Chocolate Cake with fresh strawberries, available for P 350, good for 4-5 persons, while below are Chocolate Moist Cupcakes, also with fresh strawberries which he sells at P 20 pesos for a minimum order of 1 dozen, 3-7 days advance booking.

He is actually using fruits as toppers or edible beads.. Don't mistake that for pellet gun bullets okay... lol..

Another batch of cupcakes, Simple Sponge Cake topped with "rainbow" frosting...

And this caught my eye too... Durian Cheesecake! Ah..

And of course, Strawberry Cheesecake... inside their boxes, ready to meet their rightful owners...

Now this may be far out from the batch, but I have included this to show you guys that Chef Jacob makes ordinary treats look and taste extra ordinary.. Yummy Pancake!

And this sinful treat should not be missed as well.

Oh, and the chocolate moist cake below is topped with boiled icing and fresh strawberries, and you can order it at P 150, including the box. According to Chef Jacob, this creation is recommended for couples who like to heat things up a little bit.. Like tender loving kisses and strawberries and choco moist cake in between? Well, it all depends on you.. But of course, this is also a great gift for moms and dads who still go strong and stronger through the years...

Chef Jacob can be reached through mobile numbers 09162980000. For orders, a 50% down payment is required. For Christmas, the Chef is whipping up a green, gold and red theme for his cakes....
