Ludy's Coco Jam Regular and Special: A Comparison

Ever since I was able to try the Kaya Toast in Singapore, my taste buds have been wary and wanted to try them again. I know that the Kaya Sandwich Toast and Brewed Coffee at Wang's in Changi Airport have left their mark in me and  I would often think of how to recreate the said food tandem locally. Of course, there's  my way of making Kaya Toast, which I mentioned previously on this blog. And Like what I mentioned before, making Kay a Toast entails two things only. The Kaya Spread and the Butter!

Fact: Do you know that the Kaya Spread is synonymous to your Coconut Jam with more eggs and coconut milk of course, plus the hint of pandan. If you do not believe so, here's a link to SUSAN FENIGER'S Kaya Recipe. Complete with plate assembly plus the making of your very own spread.. OMG! I am drooling here, hehehe..

So here's an experiment. I simply wanted to know the difference between the two Ludy's Coco Spreads: The Ludy's Special Coco Jam and the Ludy's Regular Coco Jam.. It is actually Ludy's Coco Spread that I used for my Kaya Toast.. I think it's better than nothing or worst if I have to slave myself in the kitchen just to make home made Kaya Spread for just a short craving--- Oh, but that's a different story.

My experiment allowed me to try the two spreads and see which is better in taste.

I tried using the Regular Ludy's Coco Jam at first and I was convinced that with a great butter, I had actually made a good Kaya Toast. But lo and behold.. The Ludy's Special Coco Jam made me change my mind.

How? Well, the Regular Ludy's Coco Jam  is not quite rich unlike the Ludy's Special Coco Jam. Perhaps more eggs and more coconut milk were used in the process.. The texture is also different in that, the Ludy's Regular Coco Jam is not as smooth and silky looking than the Ludy's Special Coco Jam. And perhaps the Ludy's Regular Coco Jam has less coconut milk than the Ludy's Special Coco Jam that it lasts longer than the latter based on their expiry dates.

Hmm. That's about it for now.. I will add more if I will be able to observe some other importnat details.. In the meantime, aside from Kaya, I am thinking up ways on how to make both disappear.. hahaha.. Thinking of other food ideas to use them on..

I love kaya toasts too. we usually buy a bottle or 2 of jams when we go to SG. Mom's Malaysian friend makes one too and she brings some for us when she visits Manila.
