Cafe 1914, Camiguin Islands

>> Friday, April 15, 2011

My cousin had been telling us about this cafe that serves the best Halo halo in Camiguin. We brushed off the idea because it had been raining since we got here.  But yesterday, it was so warm and humid.
So at three in the afternoon, we decided to go there. But we were caught with a few other matters. Plus we waited for my cousin to finish office tasks.. So at five in the afternoon, our quest for the island's best Halo-halo resumed...

Yesterday we went for Halohalo and Siopao at Cafe 1914. It is said to be the best source of Halohalo in Camiguin Islands. So instead of thinking about my tasks and looking for the best data backup software, or finding all sorts of information I was trying to search for, I ate Halohalo and Siopao at Cafe 1914..

I was told by the attendant that their ice cream is home made. They order it from someone from the island.. It does not taste good alone, but the ice cream with the Halo-halo mixture tastes wonderful.. Not too sweet-- just the right blend..
A serving of Halo-halo costs P 60.00 only.. It has lots of fruits and the milk they use is Alaska... Then their Siopao was introduced too..
I love how the meat and the dough tastes.. One Siopao will cost you P 23.00 only...

Siomai Food Trip at Robinson's..

>> Saturday, October 16, 2010

This is quite a good Siomai stall.. I love the taste of their sauces.. Their Siomai however is not filling and well, lacks the authenticity of the dish.. For me, that is..
See, when the attendant said it's five pieces for P 29.00, I said it was quite cheap. Imagine, we get our Siomai at P 5.00, and considering they are at the mall, so I imagined, they are rather very affordable.
And I saw that they were indeed full, as five pieces couldn't seem to fit in the paper plate it is being served on.
Then the attendant offered us the sauces. WOW.. Variety indeed is very good. Among the sauces, my favorite was Chili Garlic, and Sweet's was Sweet Chili. But of course, you have the option to mix your own concoction out of the sauces offered. Other sauces include Teriyaki Sauce, Oyster Sauce and Soy Sauce, plus calamansi..

Oh, and instead of using toothpick, the pick was quite presentable too..
DOWNSIDE: I felt like eating mostly wanton wrapper with just a hint of meat inside, and nothing more..  It could have been better if it was filing enough, for regardless of the price, it would have been salable.. If it were filling and the sauces are great, I think they can sell them for P 35-45 pesos..

Jo's Chicken Inato: Manokan

>> Thursday, September 16, 2010

This is the famous Jo's Chicken Inato at Manokan. It is an all time family favorite whenever we eat there. Of course, there's the Buko Halo for dessert..

These two are always on our list whenever we eat at Manokan. They are simply to die for..

Of course, on the night Lili was brought to the Madonna and Child Hospital for check up, we had dinner at Manokan before pushing through teh hospital agenda to have Lili checked for Dengue. . Apart from the two foodies, we also ordered Calamares.

And Esol, which we later found out was a drinker's beer-match made from deep fried chicken butt, lol..Nevertheless, they were good. We didn't finish all of them though, we simply tasted the Esol..
Oh well, with Lili complaining already, we didn't have a choice but to have the remaining foodies wrapped for take out. And swear, the first two foodies were never part of the take out, if you know what I mean..

Lunch at Honeybaked Cafe and Restaurant

>> Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Honeybaked used to be just a few meters away from Xavier University, so we kinda loved the place and of course, the Saltinas or simply, Empanaditas that tastes really divine. It was closed and well, we didn't know where it went. Until recently, while enjoying a brisk walk from MOGCHS to Maternity Hospital, we passed by and saw Honeybaked just across City Central School, Velez Street. So I told my sister that we will drop by Honeybaked and enjoy the Saltinas again..

So yesterday, we had lunch there. Of course, we had the Saltinas while waiting for our food. It's P 85.00 for this single order.

Saltinas has been an all time favorite when at Honeybaked. You should try it. My sister had this and mind you, this can actually feed 2 people already. The Pork Chops with its matching sweet and sour sauce is to die for.. Order this for P 145.00:

And this was what I had:

That's Pork Steak with rice and a very delicious gravy to go with it. Order this for P 165.00 and you're set for a feast.
Like what I said, the serving size is huge, so we didn't really finish everything no matter how good the food tasted.. We took them home as take out, lol..

By the way, you must try their Iced Tea. Get it bottomless for P 80.00 and you'll save a lot as it's P 60.00 per glass. Am sure my sister and I will be going back as we want to try all their foodies..

When in MOGCHS

>> Saturday, July 24, 2010

The canteen in MOGCHS is known for its cheap and filling snacks. When students go hungry, for a mere ten (P 10.00), they can already  take a snack. They can have a delicious shake and toasted bread. I have tasted the two and they are fine. Food servers and tenants at MOGCHS know it for a fact that most students can not afford to buy goodies so they have made alterations and alternatives. Take this vendor for example.

She shells shakes at P 3, P 5 and P 10, depending on the size of the cup. Her foodies include a cheap pizza, that is already tasty at P 10. She has sandwiches and her latest is this Ham and Cheese Sandwich sold at P 10.00, which is actually called as "Burger" by the students.
A little cheese, a little ham and lots of mayo. Some students prefer ketchup with it. Add a P 5 or P 10 shake and you're good to go..

It's really not a bad idea to scrimp on some ingredients if only to allow students to have a filling snack that they can afford. Aside from these examples, there are also other goodies that students may be thankful for. Viands at P 3, P 5 P 10 and P 15 which of course will vary to the dish. Drinks and all others considered, are also priced accordingly. Another discovery is food luxuries, like flavored popcorn and all others. At MOGCHS canteen, you can buy Cheese flavored or BBQ flavored popcorn for only P 10.. The same quantity as that of the P 35 Cheese Popcorn that you can buy at the malls, except that it is only placed in brown paper with no label whatsoever..

Biaños Pizza

>> Monday, July 19, 2010

After mass yesterday, we went to try out Biaño's Pizza. It's just walking distance from church, so we didn't have a hard time finding it...
These were the pizzas we ordered:

Ham and Cheese for Lili and River. And we had Meatlover's Pizza as Sweet chose it. We would have ordered "American" because Lili always requests for Pepperoni whenever we order Pizzas, but it was not available.
With these 2 orders of Medium sized pizzas, we got 2 liters of Coke and Royal True Orange as they have this promo this July that when you dine-in between 11 am to 3pm, every medium sized order gets you a FREE liter of soft-drink.. And guess what? I only paid P 298.00 over all..

hmmm.. P 298? yup, P 298.00 Ham and Cheese is just P 130 while Meatlovers is only P 168. The most expensive pizza is at P 198, "Full House", but Sweet does not like it. Well, maybe NOT YET??? hehehe We'll try it next time. We asked about deliveries and I found out that minimum order is at P 200 only, but for Balulang there is a delivery charge of P 30. Well, it is not that bad actually, considering that the Pizza you will get is yummy! I tell you guys, the crust alone is tasty already, how much more with the toppings.. It's crisp and  thin and tastes creamy. The cheese on every pizza is divine. I think many of you think it is but an ordinary pizza, but hey, you just have to taste it and find out. Sure the place is simple compared to other pizza places, but it's the pizza that counts! Agree? It's an original recipe of Alberto Biaño of Oroquieta City. Good thing it is now in Cagayan de Oro..

For more of the menu, CLICK HERE.  See below for its location..

For orders and deliveries, they are located at the 1st floor of Miranda Building, T.Chavez St.  (Near Greenhills - below "d' Same Place"), below is the entrance to the building..

Contact them through Globe: 09161315606, Sun: 09322008021 or local numbers (088) 3092463 and or (088) 8524244.

You just have to taste their pizza to believe all that I am saying is true.. This is NOT a paid post by the way, but I simply liked how nice the people who waited on us were, while we dined-in at Biaño's..

Lunch at TNT

>> Friday, July 16, 2010

My sister and I had lunch at TNT a few months back. It was our first time to try their food and  here are the food we tried that day. It was  not crowded. As a matter of fact, we were the only patrons during that time..

The Siomai and their Noodle...
The Choice of Sauces for the noodle..
 We also had the following:
Sisig on Rice

Spicy Adobo Flakes

Another batch of Siomai.. hehehe..

We also had shakes and mineral water. Lunch cost less that P 200 for all the foodies ordered, including the drinks. It was affordable, and the taste was okay.. Eating at TNT is good for budget seekers.. Although, I did not like the fact that attendants were all talking loudly downstairs that patrons can hear their conversations.

SLERS HAM & CAFE

>> Thursday, June 17, 2010

Sweet and I went to buy a few things in preparation for Lili's birthday, as well as submitted some documents that my school has required of me.  We got hungry, and so, since SLERS Ham and Cafe was just across the street, we went and helped ourselves to our favorite sandwiches..
Sweet had her usual SLERS Classic Jamon Sandwich (above), and I got my favorite SLERS Beef Pastrami Sandwich (below)..with a cup of  Lemonade for each of us.
The SLERS Classic Jamon and the SLERS Beef Pastrami Sandwiches are bit salty so if you do not like it that way, you can actually order other kinds of sandwiches.. The  SLERS Grilled Ham and Cheese may just be right for you, so feel free to try it..
If you are not from Cagayan de Oro City, you can actually purchase goodies from the  SLERS Pasalubong Stand for your friends and relatives back home..

So while you choose what to get from the SLERS Pasalubong Stand, enjoy your food at the comfortable dining area. If you bring your laptop, you can go ahead and surf the net..since WIFI is FREE for P 100 plus purchase..

You can also choose any of the best selling SLERS Hams from the Ham Freezer..
Wanna see what's inside???
And of course, the counter with the friendly staff.. The staff can give you whatever information or whatever you need them to do for your stay to be memorable..
And oh, look at how delicious looking those Ensaimadas are.. Not SLERS but a consigned product, I was told. Actually, they have lots of consigned products at the stand..

The food they will serve their patrons:
Below is a group's order to be delivered at another office nearby.. Yup, they can deliver in the neighboring offices, so do inquire if that's what you want..
For more information, check out the flier I got after paying for our food..

I hope this post is helpful enough..
