From My Kitchen: Goso Salad
>> Tuesday, July 5, 2011

For my share this week, here's Goso Salad.. Goso is actually a seaweed that resembles green stems floating in the shallow waters of the sea.. When harvested, they're handpicked and segregated from all other elements that can be found while harvesting them..
To prepare for a refreshing salad using Goso, it needs to be blanched first.. To blanch is to cook in the process where food is plunged into boiling water, removed after a brief, timed interval, and finally plunged into iced water or placed under cold running water (shocked) to stop the cooking process.
When it is ready, sliced onions, ginger root, garlic and leeks will be added to it, while vinegar and fish sauce is mixed with a little sugar to flavor the said salad..
This food is a good partner for broiled fish, grilled meats and seafood..
