Lunch at the Fortunate Restaurant - Food Republic

>> Wednesday, December 29, 2010

On their last day in Singapore, my parents and aunts explored Orchard and continued with their shopping spree. By lunch time, we went to the Food Republic in Ngee Ann City and ate at the Fortunate Restaurant. Kinda catchy for a resto name ei? Well, they serve good food. Chinese good to go dishes that are well loved for centuries..

I had this chicken dish that is served in a bamboo tube cum dish. I forgot the name though. But one thing I can say is that it does not only look good, but taste good as well.

My mom ordered the Minced Pork and Century Egg Congee. Well, it was good, just like all congees.. hehehe
My father had this one below. I again forgot the name, but it has "Claypot" as part of its name.. The pork is tender and it's yummy as well.
And this...
Below is what that foodie wrapped in leaves looks like..
My mom got curious upon seeing this thing wrapped in leaves on another patron's table and asked me to order it so we can have a taste of this treat.. All you need to do is peel off the leaves and voila! Great tasting treat pops before your very eyes..

Of course, we added $2.50 for each of our order to have the Mango Pudding for dessert and their most recommended drink..

Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine- Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

>> Thursday, December 23, 2010

We spent the night and had dinner at the Rise in Marina Bay Sands during Tito Noel's birthday, last December 9, 2010. In the morning of the next day, we went around The Shoppes in Marina Bay Sands and went inside the Casino and played some games at the slot machines. Then we had lunch at the Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine- Marina Bay Sands. It was quite a funny experience, mainly because we were not served properly. Chinese Tea was served first, and soup was served last-- My Tito complained about the service and the lady host, to please our uncle, as he is a priced customer at Marina Bay Sands, gave us Malay Cake and Coconut Cake as complimentary desserts. Hahaha.. Of course, we still have the soup to our tab.
The Roasted Chicken above and the Steamed Garoupa with Ham below..
Below is what they called as Peking Duck Second Way..

This was the soup that was served last,lol.. It's lotus root with real Octopus tentacles.. It's yummy actually..

The Coconut Cake above, and the Malay Cake below....

Anyway, for our food, we had the Steamed Garoupa with Ham, Four Vegetables in Oyster Sauce, Peking Duck carved in front of us, as well as the second way of serving Peking Duck, as well as the one with wraps, which I was not able to get the name. We also had Roasted Chicken and Pickles.

Above: Pili Nuts and its matching chili sauce, and below:  Chinese Tea..

This one below is what I was talking about. The Peking duck meat in wraps..  It was quite good..
Of course, The Peking Duck served in a Duck dish that is quite cute to look at.. hehehe
Oh, before I forget, their rice is quite good as well..

Over all experience was good, despite the fact that we were not properly served. I guess 6 Star hotel restaurants have their way of pleasing their guests despite the fact that they have already been wrong the first time. We walked away smiling still.. and continued playing at the slot machines afterward.. Dinner followed at The Nest..

To end this post, here's how the Peking Duck was carved in front of all of us..
