TRELLIS ‘N VINES - Torres Branch, Davao City

>> Monday, May 23, 2011

On the first day of the Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2011, we had lunch at TRELLIS ‘N VINES. The place was nice. Cozy and perfect for groups of two, three and more.. We had two long tables to accommodate all DFAT 2011 participants. And for DAY 1 of DFAT 2011, it was truly a great start..

Below were the food we had:

 Sinuglaw (P 260.00)

  Crab n' Corn Soup (P 115.00)

Pan-fried Bangus with Tomato Concasse and Adobong Kangkong (P 135.00)

  Baby Back Ribs (P 170.00)

   Chicken Biryani (P 215.00)

  Crispy Noodles (P 150.00)

Peanut Butter Banana Roll (P 65.00)

I must tell you that the portions are quite huge. It's to share, and two to three or four people can share a dish, depending on appetite of course. And because it's just lunch, and snacks await two hours after that day, I personally did not eat much. A little of everything that was served was my aim. Yet, I felt so full when we left..

Among the food served, I liked Sinuglaw the most, perhaps because of how it was presented and what's in it. I love cucumbers and how it blended well with the Kinilaw as well as the Pork Sinugba.. I ate it like a salad appetizer, hahaha.. Chicken Biryani was spicy and I loved it too. The Crab and Corn Soup actually has tuna chunks apart from the crab meat  in it, and I love the creamy texture. The soup alone is already filling.. I didn't have much of the Baby Back Ribs but pictures.. I couldn't quite remember how it tasted.. Seriously, it looked delicious, and I am sure it was...

We were about to leave when dessert was served. We didn't think there was dessert because by then we were all so full, hahaha.. The Peanut Butter Banana Roll is quite unique. And although it was served with chocolate syrup, it isn't too sweet. It reminds me of Reese's chocolate plus the banana.. Amazingly wonderful---
If you wish to experience what we had, check out the following branches of  TRELLIS ‘N VINES. We ate at the Torres Branch, Davao City, and I must say that the staff at this branch are truly commendable..

Food Served in Banana Leaves

In the olden times, banana leaves are very useful in preparing as well as serving food. But as years passed, and new developments take place, new replaces the old. Plates and all other dishes replace the use of banana leaves in serving as well as eating..

Our visit to the Tibolo Village in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur gave us a really different experience in dining.. Food were served in banana leaves. so they smelled nice..
See the wrapped goodies below? They were actually rice wrapped in banana leaves to keep them warm.
To enjoy the feast in front of you, you have to unwrap the rice first.. and of course, help yourself with all the other treats..

Well, it was well worth the two hour journey from Davao City. Quite an experience for DFAT 2011.. This post is also my entry for Green Monday.. For more of this meme, click on the badge above..
