Food Served in Banana Leaves

>> Monday, May 23, 2011

In the olden times, banana leaves are very useful in preparing as well as serving food. But as years passed, and new developments take place, new replaces the old. Plates and all other dishes replace the use of banana leaves in serving as well as eating..

Our visit to the Tibolo Village in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur gave us a really different experience in dining.. Food were served in banana leaves. so they smelled nice..
See the wrapped goodies below? They were actually rice wrapped in banana leaves to keep them warm.
To enjoy the feast in front of you, you have to unwrap the rice first.. and of course, help yourself with all the other treats..

Well, it was well worth the two hour journey from Davao City. Quite an experience for DFAT 2011.. This post is also my entry for Green Monday.. For more of this meme, click on the badge above..

What Should It be?

>> Sunday, May 22, 2011

Would you think of hot tub covers when your hot tub is inviting enough to allow you to snob foodies prepared, and instead, you plunge into the tub for a relaxing dip? Uhm.. I have not encountered such dilemma yet. I guess the recent food dilemma was how to be able to taste everything with such short time. Food tasting has this really stressful effect on me. But what could be more stressful than having to taste quite a hefty amount of food in just a short span of time. Oh well, you signed up for it, so you have to bear with it until the end. It was such guilt consuming that we had to sample delectable and expensive foodies while a lot of people do not have anything to eat..  To eat or not to eat. To taste or not to taste. But quite frankly, if you decided not to taste some of the other foodies, and eat only what you like, then you will ask yourself afterward whether the experience was good or not. It wouldn't be complete. So I took the liberty of tasting in tiny bits and small portions. Of course, I also enjoy those that I like by allowing myself to have seconds and thirds, according to the small portions of course. If not, I would have exploded, lol.
