The DFAT 2011 Experience

>> Thursday, May 19, 2011

I am now home from my Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2011 experience. We have been to many different food places, and seen so many beautiful sights in Davao, including the majestic Mount Apo, the tallest mountain in the Philippines. We ate with the Bagobo tribe at the Tibolo Village, we saw the amazing bird show and met Pag-asa at the Philippine Eagle Foundation site.. We went to large restaurants with glass top dining tables as well as those small restaurants that are huge on taste and explosive flavors in their cooking.. We have seen vinyl tablecloth and the different table settings.. We have come to understand what a dish chair is, and well, enjoyed all of them with gusto..

Truly, it was an experience that is rich in lessons, experience and fun. I guess it has covered more aspect of a  Davao food adventure. What amazed me most of all is how the Bagobos cooked inside the bamboo tubes, from main dish to dessert--- Nilotlot is the term for it.

The chicken in coconut milk cooked in bamboo tube was delicious...

Wowed...

Travelling entails bringing a lot of portables just to complete a task where you are at. In the first place, it is not about looking and experiencing them.. Not only about taking good photos or sampling the food. It's all about experience. What better to let other people know what you have recetly experienced than to tell them right where they happened.. Live blogging is fun, but sometimes, they take a lot of stress especially when time is not at your side.. I am referring to seeing the peak of Mount Apo before the clouds covered it fully. I had to wake up at three to prepare, was fetched at my hotel at four and off we went before the sun came off.. Unfortunately, we arrived late, but it was good that we were still able to take a glimpse of the peak on our way to the Tibolo Village..
