Food Served in Pangyawan

>> Wednesday, April 13, 2011

We went to Pangyawan as per invitation of my cousin's half brother and his family, who were generous and  hospitable towards us.. When we arrived, we were welcomed by freshly harvested Buko from the coconut trees in their own yard...

They also cooked Kamoteng Kahoy and we enjoyed how naturally sweet they were..

After that afternoon snack, we went to the seashore and decided to take a plunge and go boating...

My cousin told me that at that very shore, fishermen would sell fresh fishes direct from when they have arrived from fishing at the deep waters... They are fishes you would normally find in the market, that shall already be priced high and perhaps be preserved using ice..  But buying from there would mean that the fishes are yet fresh, un-iced and cheap..If the fisherman is a friend, you can even get them for free...

My cousin told us that in the morning she will buy some fresh catch for us to enjoy... so yeah, in the morning, we were served Tinolang Nucos (Squid) and Bisayang Manok sa Gata (Native Chicken in Coconut Milk) for breakfast... Yummy.. Both, chicken and squid were fresh...
I bet this is your first time to hear of Tinolang Nucos or Stewed Squid as it is usually cooked Adobo style. Tinolang Squid is much similar to cooking Fish Tinola as fresh squid is cooked in boiling water with lemon grass as primary herbal ingredient... It tasted sweet, and has no odor..
Before we started breakfast, I saw two other foodies coking in the kitchen with another Squid recipe, and the Native Chicken in coconut milk continuously boiling...
They used "Dahon sa Sili" and Malunggay as added ingredients...
Boy, it was sumptuous and delicious, no matter how simply they were prepared....

>> Tuesday, April 12, 2011

The tools that are available to those within education today are amazing. There is so much wonderful technology that it has changed the face of education as we know it.

1. iPhone Apps: Who would have thought that you could get so much out of your phone? With the evolution of the iPhone and other Smartphones just like it came the apps that teachers can’t live without. Whether they are using the apps to help with something in the class or looking for new ideas, these are great. It’s so easy for a teacher to just pull up something on their phone and the ideas can start flowing. This is wonderful for teachers who may need a little help in getting organized or who may need some fresh ideas in how to reach their children. Whatever the reason they are used, these apps represent one of the best forms of technology to hit the face of education.

2. Online Lesson Plans: Though teachers still have to come up with their own lesson plans, sometimes they just need some fresh ideas. Not only are the online lesson plans well founded but they can help to get a teacher on track with a fresh start. There are so many different types and forms of lesson plans out there and it’s easy enough to pick the one that best suits your needs. You can even track all of your lesson plans online, which makes it really easy if you ever need a substitute in the classroom.

3. Educational Websites: Teachers can use the websites to teach certain lessons. They can point students in the direction of the right educational websites to help educate their students and provide research material. Students can take the websites to help create new ways of learning things outside of the classroom. These sites can test knowledge and really help to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom on a daily basis. This is great for everyone and provides a different and rather fun way of learning.

4. Online Courses: Teachers can take advantage of the many educational online courses to further their knowledge on a certain area. They may use the online courses to keep up with their continuous education credits or even to obtain another degree. Students can gain an education that they may never have been able to get and all from the comfort of their own home. Nothing has changed the face of education more than online courses and the way that they have made education so accessible.

5. Test Preparation Software: There are so many standardized and required tests these days that it’s hard to know which end is up. The wonderful test preparation software that is out there today can really help to prepare a student for whichever test they are taking. They can not only utilize these to study from but also to test their knowledge and take practice exams before the big day arrives.

6. Educational Forums: Sometimes teachers just need to talk to others just like them in the field. With the many wonderful educational forums that are out there, teachers can be united with others from all over the world. This helps to answer questions and ensure that a teacher is always prepared no matter what.

Teachers need certain tools, and there are many available to them today. These forms of technology are the best out there and with great reasons for their contribution.
