Ice Cream Sandwich Anyone?

>> Tuesday, January 4, 2011

When you walk the streets of Singapore, you will easily find a very common figure. The uncle that sells ice cream sandwich for just a $1. The ice cream brand is Walls, which I think is a sister company of Selecta. What's fun about this is that, it is not scooped, rather, sliced.
All you have to do is tell "uncle" your flavor and he will get it from his magic ice box, and slice it for you. He then will ask you where to place the ice cream, whether in between wafers or in between a slice of loaf bread. Which ever you choose, you will have a filling and cool dessert or fun snack.
Aside from the sliced ice cream, he also sells scooped ones but are rather small and placed in cute cups. Much similar to our dirty ice cream, but, much creamier and flavorful than our dirty ice cream.

There! My parents and aunts and cousin enjoying the ice cream sandwich as we walked along Orchard. This is such a fun and cheap way to relieve boredom and distress in Singapore.. I had my first bite of this ice cream sandwich in Bugis..

New Business for the New Year

My friend Eugene wrote me while I was in Singapore to look for a shop or store where he could buy Wasserstrom restaurant supplies. He told me that he and his partner will be opening a new business in 2011, and they need to get affordable restaurant equipment. Yeah, if you open a business, especially a restaurant, one of teh concerns should be where to buy equipment as well as restaurant supply. Of course, if it's a five or six star deal, professional chefs will be using said equipment and supply, thus, professional cookware is appropriate. So my cousin and I embarked on a journey to find what Eugene requested us to look for. We went to every chain restaurant supplies store in Singapore, but it just left me and my cousin all the more confused. See, people in those stores we visited seem to have other brands in mind, plus, they do not speak English quite well.

Anyway, Eugene will be leaving for Taiwan in a few days as another friend of ours was commissioned to do the same there, and reported of having found what Eugene sought for. So yeah, mission accomplished for Thelma.. And more assignments for me and my cousin when we go back to Singapore.. hehehe
