Malaysian Sweet Treat

>> Monday, December 20, 2010

You may have seen this around Singapore while strolling along Peranakan areas. This is a sweet treat made especially in Malaysia. Unfortunately for me, I forgot to take the name of this said treat.
Anyway, we went across from the Johor Bahru City Square, to shop for more items from local traders in the area. It was like an open market type with many stalls selling bags, belts and many others. As we went to the inner stalls, this framed newspaper clipping caught my attention as it hang on one food stall.
Then a friendly man greeted me with food tasting-- and gave me more to have my aunts and parents taste his goodies. That's when we ended up buying a box for pasalubong for Lola Linda..

Regular price at RM 12.00, but he gave us a discount and so we bought a box for RM 10.00--

Worst Kenny Rogers Roaster..

We went to Malaysia when my parents and aunts were here in Singapore and well, we had lunch and shopping there. Reason: Shopping is great for the really affordable prices of goods-- mall or outside of the mall. We arrived there at eleven thirty so technically, we were hungry as it was lunch time. The first mall we entered after walking a distance from the Malaysian immigration is where we went for food. Because we know the name brand so well, we entered this Kenny Rogers Roaster only to be dismayed as food was served too late.. More than an hour waiting for food, and more than an hour to get things in order..

Because we were not happy anymore, we declined the last three orders of desserts.. The manager talked to my uncle to apologize. I think this roaster should follow suit as to what all Kenny Rogers Roasters around the world are doing, self service! Food gets served as soon as patrons have paid for their meal. No food left unserved, no customer unhappy..

A sit down meal is only good if service is great..
