Lunch at The Barn (near Lourdes College/Maternity Hospital)

>> Sunday, June 6, 2010

My sister and I were out on an errand and when it was about lunchtime, we decided not to go home and eat out. Since we were near Lourdes College, we opted to eat near the area and we craved for delicious Liempo for lunch so we decided to eat at The Barn.

We always buy Liempo from The Barn as take out. It had been a family favorite mainly because their liempo is different from all others who specialize in Roasted Chicken and Liempo. There's is solid pork belly with less fat, which tastes really yummy.

So we proceeded and chose our spot. The area inside was warm at that time as there was a scheduled brownout in the area. So went on further and decided to eat al-fresco in The Barn's garden setting. Except for some flies, the place was good. But when many people started coming in and the space was half full, teh flies seemed to have understood that they were not welcome, so they left...

The attendant, who was named Danny, was specially courteous and nice.He waited on us with cheerfulness, and I liked it. When our food came, we were delighted. Liempo with Banana Heart in Coconut Salad plus iced cold Pepsi was filling..We went somewhere else for dessert..

Then came the part of the water..

Complimentary water is not at all recommended.. Look at the rim of its container.. You get what I mean? Except for the water which we didn't drink, lunch at The Barn was a good experience despite the brownout.

Apple Pie and Gold

I have always heard so many people talk about investing in gold. Some of them opt to buy silver bullion or silver coins, others would opt to buy gold coins and gold bullion. Gold and Silver are always the choices, as if they are both equal in value. But come to think of it, as one investor pointed out, they are quite the same. When investing in Gold or Silver, the investor need to find the most affordable seller, and when selling time comes, the investor need to find the highest bidder to sell his precious metals to.

Hmm, I wish cooking is like investing in  gold or silver. When ingredients are aplenty, we tend to buy more and cook or bake more, for us to enjoy. And because foodies tend to sour or dry up or deteriorate in value, we need to consume them while their edible. Oh well. Maybe some day, food will have some equally compelling characteristics such as those with precious stones and minerals..

On the lighter note, most people who have seen life change by investing in gold or silver have had the crazy roller coaster behavior of no longer wanting to eat while they have plenty of money.. Isn't it ironic? Oh I wish apple pies are like gold.. whew..
