Christmas is usually spent sleeping. That has always been the cycle. We have been staying late during Christmas eve until dawn of Christmas day for so many years. It had only stopped last year, as our house had been one of the many houses that had been hit by Typhoon Sendong last year. There was no point of being merry, although we did prepare for Christmas eve dinner.
Anyway, what we eat on Christmas day is usually left-over food from what we have prepared the night before.. and we usually eat in the afternoon because we usually wake up after noontime. But Christmas this year, is different. We were all early. On our part, we had to be early because we have to travel going to our parents' place. My parents were early because they sent my sister and her children together with her boyfriend for their trip to Kauswagan, Lanao--her boyfriend's place. While waiting for my parents, we went to buy some carrots and turnips for my juicer at wholesale prices at Bulua market. And when we reached their place, we were greeted by their Christmas left-overs. Again, ham.. but this time slices of boneless ham from Oro Ham, and some sauteed shrimps. They had Fruit Salad and Spaghetti, and some other sweets. But I was too sleepy to eat, so we proceeded to our Karaoke singing, alternate with sleeping, my sister and I.
Then we had late lunch, had some Chicken and Seafood Sotanghon, plus Humba..
In the late afternoon, we prepared Siomai. We always make Siomai when we are at our parents.. So it seemed like an ordinary weekend activity on Christmas day..
We had dinner and went home at nine in the evening. We would have stayed but my sister has to attend a wedding tomorrow.
